TOGETHER FOR A NEW VISION

At a time when the German healthcare system faces profound challenges, the Interdisciplinary Association for Healthcare Professions (IVfG) has formed as a young network seeking to bring fresh perspectives to the healthcare debate. Founded in the summer of 2023, the association sees itself as the first joint advocacy group for all healthcare professions in Germany and aims to pursue a vision that places the individual at the center, not merely as a patient within a fragmented system.
The IVfG criticizes the fact that current structures are often too focused on disease management and economic efficiency, and too little on prevention, health maintenance, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Its mission is to combine conventional medicine, complementary medicine, and naturopathic approaches, thereby promoting personal responsibility and health education among the population. A key concern is also ensuring local access to care provided by qualified professionals who not only provide technical treatment but also offer holistic support to patients.
In recent months, the association has publicized its perspective in a series of articles and statements. The IVfG critically examines issues such as the planned lump-sum payment for general practitioners starting in 2026, the challenges in nursing training and reducing bureaucracy in nursing, as well as the increase in health insurance contributions and the conflict between physicians' therapeutic autonomy and the interests of health insurance companies.
In parallel with these contributions, the IVfG states that it is working to strengthen the network among healthcare professionals and to recruit new members. New activities have now been initiated in various locations across Germany to increase the association's regional visibility and promote interdisciplinary collaborations.
In conclusion, the IVfG positions itself as a voice for a public-benefit-oriented healthcare system – one that focuses not only on treating illness, but also on promoting health, empowering patients, and fostering collaboration across established disciplinary boundaries.
